Hey. I'm Iain and I'm just starting to get involved with MOTUing. I'm a Computer Science graduate and future PhD student (starting in September) at the University of Nottingham, England.

Here's me on Launchpad, and here is my blog. I've been a Ubuntu user since Summer (in the UK) 2006 and full-time since Summer 2008. I started working on Ubuntu development around February 2008 with no knowledge of the processes at all, and think that I now know a fair bit..!

Current focus

Having reached DIF, I've switched from doing merges so much to checking sites such as multidistrotools and UEHS, as well as LP trolling for things to fix. I've also got a package in REVU which is seeking reviewers before Intrepid's FF. Please do have a quick look if you have time.

I don't really have a favourite package or area yet, preferring to just pick up bugs that I think I can do and try and solve them (with the help of the awesome #ubuntu-motu!). If pressed, I'd say I feel a bit of an affinity with darcs, and have been working with various people to get this package in sync with Debian, thanks in no small part to a new Debian maintainer who has been very responsive and willing to help us.

I hope in the future to get involved with Haskell/FP packages in general, with interest piqued by my PhD topic.

Transition
