Overview

This team focuses on translating Ubuntu into Australian English using [https://launchpad.net/rosetta/+about Rosetta]. It is hoped that this wiki page will assist the Australian translators in working as a cohesive group, rather than a collection of individuals.

Translation Guidelines

In the interest of consistency, I think we need to come to some agreement on the spelling of certain words and how they are translated from other versions of English. The following is the beginning of such a thing. Please feel free to change things. These are based my observations of how others have been translating in Rosetta.   *ize	*ise	colourise, organise, but not size
  *alog	*alogue	catalogue, dialogue
  *er	*re	centre, fibre, metre, millimetre
  *ior	*iour	behaviour
  check	tick	the tick box
  disk	disc	this is argued, but i think c is correct
  Trash	Garbage Bin	not sure who started this, but I like it... although I probably would have preferred "Rubbish Bin". I did, I got so sick of Trash I changed it to the first thing I thought of KK
